Today we are going to our third post op scan to check on the baby. We are attempting to get the train and walk the 10 mins from the train to UCLH to the appointment. But if this is too much then we’ll just taxi it.
In the waiting room at the train station I couldn’t believe how clean it was. The floor was literally shining so I had to take a picture. Sad I know but it was impressive!! It took us quite a while but I managed the walk! When we get to the hospital (very slowly I might add) we got to the waiting room and greeted with a big hug and massive smile.

We’ve had the scan and the ventricles are slightly up, 13 and 10 now. They don’t seem bothered by this but weirdly I am. I think it’s because of the benchmark of “normal” being up to 10 being set out from the beginning. When it was going down I was excited that we might get to normal, now I just think that’s probably hopeful thinking. Although they say it is good and not concerning, that benchmark will always be at the back of my mind and I will always get worried when it goes up slightly. Just a bit deflating. But the spine is still closed, no leaking fluid and Fred seemed happy that the bubbies legs were moving quite a bit.
They’ve also found a tube pocket of fluid across my stomach. I think they are a bit concerned. But mainly confused that I’ve not had any fevers or feeling unwell that might have been expected with it. Literally only had discomfort round about where it is, which I’ve had and mentioned since having the surgery. But plan of action has been set out, I’m back on antibiotics, had a blood test to make sure it’s nothing more sinister and next week they will reassess (have to go back in for a scan at UCLH to check up). If it’s gone, great! If not they will have to put a needle in to drain it. Apparently it is very common for post surgery, but I just need to keep an eye. If I get ill I need to go back to UCLH to check it. Not had MRI back yet, but fingers crossed it’ll just back up the scans findings. Also brought up the fact that I’ve had a little bit of bleeding. I really don’t think it is anything to worry about and don’t think it is vaginal bleeding but more from being lying down to much and sensitive skin causing irritated skin there. I’ve also had the sores on my butt so obviously just sensitive.
